Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: As it happens in the outbracket round, upsets make for excitement and the 2018 edition saw three out of five games won by the lower seeded team. In Class B, Churchville-Chili avenged an earlier loss by beating Spencerport 7-5. Brighton and Canandagigua had no difficulty with their lower seeds by beating Brockport and Gates Chili. In Class D both out bracket games were won by the lower seeds as Waterloo defeated Marcus Whitman 9-7 and Bloomfield-Honeoye beat Mynderse 12-9.

Brighton scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull away from Spencerport.  The Barons won 18-11 after the Rangers scored the final two goals.  Brighton was led in scoring by Brady McDermott with 6g-3a.  The first goal of the game was scored only 0:25 into play with B. McDermott finding Shea McDonald open on the crease after a fast-break down the field.

Most games were not very close but Mynderse fought back from a 6-3 deficit to defeat Waterloo 8-7. Penfield defeated Pittsford and Midlakes beat the Pride. # 1285  All Greater Rochester 2017

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year.

Webster Thomas took their first lead with an overtime goal from Colin Horan in the second overtime period to defeat Penn Yan 9-8. The Mustangs led for major portions of the game and had a three goal lead with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Thomas scored the final four goals of the match-up to force overtime and take the win.

A five goal run in the fourth quarter gave Hilton (5-9) a win against host Brighton (6-7) tonight on Senior Night. Hilton took their first lead of the game with 6:12 remaining in the fourth quarter and held off Brighton’s attempt at a comeback to defeat the Barons 13-11. Brighton played three strong quarters before Hilton took over in the fourth. The Cadets scored five unanswered goals spanning just over 4 minutes in the final quarter to secure the win.

Jacob Buck tied his school record for most goals in a single game in the 16-15 Churchville-Chili win over Spencerport.  He finished with 8g-1a for the Saints.  Historically this was the 17th consecutive win for Churchville-Chili over Spencerport.  The last win for the Rangers was eleven years ago.  Today’s game was close throughout with the largest lead being a three goal lead late in the game for Churchville-Chili (16-13).  During the contest both teams lead and neither could pull away.  Both teams survived 3 minute non-releasable stick penalties with only 1 goal against for each team.

April 27, 2017 - Gates Chili scored eight unanswered goals to defeat Spencerport 10-9.  The Spartans were looking for redemption for their season opening overtime loss to Spencerport (HERE).  Tonight, Gates Chili had a 10-5 lead before the Rangers scored the last four goals and attempted to force overtime.  The Rangers played a strong first half and led 5-2 with 4:26 remaining in the second quarter, before Gates Chili scored eight straight.

March 30, 2017 - Spencerport scored nine of the first twelve goals on their way to a 14-10 win over Greece Athena/Odyssey.  Although the Thunder scored the first goal (Zack Gibaurd unassisted), Spencerport scored the next four.  Johnathan Agness scored the opening two on his way to six total goals.  Owen VanWie and Cameron Nitti scored the next two.

March 28, 2017 - Owen VanWie scored the game winning goal with 0:06 left in the first overtime period to give Spencerport the 13-12 win over Gates Chili.  VanWie was a major presence throughout the game winning 19/25 face off draws and leading his team with 20 ground balls.  This was the 21st time that the Rangers had faced the Spartans and with the win they moved to 10-11 against Gates Chili.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Monroe County League players for the 2015 season. Senior midfielder Kevin Hill (Thomas), attackman, Connor Hulme (Canandaigua) and Long Stick Defenseman Allen Thibodeau (Fairport) were named US Lacrosse Academic All Americans. Senior midfielder Brandon Barker (Pittsford) along with senior attackman Max Spaan (Penfield) and senior goalie Willie Klan (Penfield) selected as US Lacrosse All Americans. Juniors Jared Conners(Pittsford-LSM), T.D. Ierlan (Victor mid/fo) and Jamie Trimboli (Victor - mid) were also named as US Lacrosse All Americans.

After a scoreless first quarter, Churchville-Chili scored three goals during a non-releasable penalty to start off scoring on their way to a 13-10 win over Spencerport. The game was all about scoring runs. The first quarter had no scoring with both goalies coming up with big saves. Matt Cobb (Churchville-Chili) had 4 in the first quarter and nine overall and Connor MacKenzie (Spencerport) had 5 in the first quarter and eleven overall.

Greece Athena/Odyssey scored the first goal of the game, but could not hold on to the lead and Spencerport defeated the Thunder 8-7. Zack Gibaud scored the first goal nearly halfway through the opening quarter. Less than one minute later, Spencerport added back to back goals to take their first lead and although the game was tied after that the Rangers never trailed.

Three man-up goals during a non-releasable penalty gave Schroeder a three goal lead late in the second quarter and that was enough to hold off Spencerport`s late advance. The Warriors won 10-8 over the Rangers. The game was neck and neck before the scoring streak. Both teams alternated scoring in the first and early second quarters with Spencerport holding a 3-2 lead with 5:56 remaining in the second quarter.

HF-L took the lead in the second quarter and never trailed again in their 15-12 win over Spencerport. This is the first loss for Spencerport in the last seven games. The game was back and forth in the first quarter and even though the Cougars kept the lead for three quarters, the game was close throughout.

Spencerport scored six unanswered goals at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth to take the lead and defeat Brockport 19-14. Before the stretch, the game was tied 12-12. Spencerport scored the first goal of the game when Owen VanWie scored his unassisted goal five minutes into the game. The Blue Devils kept the game close and tied for the first quarter. Each time Spencerport scored, Brockport tied the game within one minute. Austin Manchester scored 0:27 later to tie the game 1-1.
